How to Navigate Downloadables (Detailed)


This guide offers a straightforward approach to creating downloadable resources using PodUp's platform, making it essential for anyone looking to enhance their website's engagement. By providing step-by-step instructions, it empowers users to effectively create and organize valuable content, which can attract and retain visitors. Whether you aim to boost your email list with subscription forms or simply streamline your resources, this guide equips you with the necessary tools to succeed.



2. Click "Grow"

3. Click "Downloadables"

4. The "Downloadables" page will appear like this

  • Downloadables on a website are files visitors can click to save or access on their own device—like PDFs, eBooks, checklists, audio files, or templates.

5. Click "Create" to add create a Downloadable or Resources Category

6. Click the "Title" field and enter the title of the downloadable

7. Click "Content" to add the test of your downloadable

8. Click the "Link" field to connect the button or text to the actual file so users can access or download it.

9. Click the "Button title" field to add the title of the button for the link. The button tells users what they’re downloading and encourages them to click (e.g., “Download Guide” or “Get Checklist”).

10. Click "Choose File" to add the actual downloadable content (like a PDF or audio file) that provides value to the user.

11. Click "Select" to choose a category from a drop-down list which helps organize your downloadables so users (and you) can easily find and group similar files, like separating eBooks, templates, or audio downloads.

12. Click "Add New Category" to add another category option

13. A new field will appear to enter the category name into the "Category Name" field.

  • Click "Add" to add the category as an option

14. Click "Yes" if you require a subscription form

15. If you require a subscription, another question will appear asking you to select your subscription form. Select one of the subscription forms from a drop-down list

16. Click "Choose Image" to upload a thumbnail to attach to the downloadable

17. Click the "Post Order" field to control the sequence in which your downloadables appear on a page or list—like newest first, oldest first, or custom order.

  • This is a numerical field so you can mark what number this post is

18. Click the "View Detail button title" field to enter the text that appears on a button allowing users to preview or open a downloadable item before downloading it.

19. Click the "Newsletter Subscription Title" field to enter the title which will grab attention, tell what people get, help more people subscribe, connect the downloadable to the newsletter, and make the process clear.

20. Click the "Newsletter Subscription Detail" field which will describe your newsletter

21. Click "Save" to keep the edits that you made to your downloadable

22. Click "Cancel" to delete the changes

23. To create a category, click "Create" then "Resource Category"

24. Click the "Category Name" field to enter the name that you want to have be the title of the category

25. Click the "Description" field to enter a description do the category

26. Click "Downloads" or "Link" depending on what will be contained in the category

  • Downloads: A file users can save to their device
  • Link: Directs users to another webpage or online resource.

27. Click "Save" to keep the edit or "Cancel" to delete the category

28. Click the "Search text here" field to search for a specific title

29. Click "Search" to run the search for the text

30. Click "Reset" to return to the original settings

31. Click this checkbox to display more details so that user will know more information about the file before they download it

32. Click "Edit" to return to the creation page. You can edit any element of downloadable

33. Click the back arrow to return to the main page

34. Click the 3 dots icon to delete the downloadable. A pop-up will appear asking for confirmation that you want to delete it. Click "Ok" to continue with the download or "No" to keep it

35. Click "Categories" to view the categories

36. Click the "Search text here..." field to run a search for a specific category

37. Click "Select Status" to choose a specific status to search for

38. Click "Search" to run the search

39. Click "Reset" to reset the search to the original display settings

40. Click "Active" to change the status from "Active" to "Inactive" or "Inactive" to "Active"

  • A popup will appear asking for confirmation that you want to change it
    • Click "Ok" to update or "Cancel" to keep the current status

41. Click "Edit" to reopen the category information where you can edit the name, description and content

42. Click the 3 dot icon to delete the category. A pop-up will appear asking for confirmation that you want to delete the category

  • Click "Ok" to delete or "Cancel" to save the category
